Drugs: the help that works

We do not index marketplaces that sell drugs, and we will not point you to one. Drug use is a criminal matter and even more a health one: most countries offer free and confidential support, and it helps whether you want to stop completely or just want to stop committing suicide.

If someone is overdosing right now

Call the emergency number and stay with them. Keep them awake if you can, help them sit up if they are drowsy, and put them in the recovery position if they are unconscious. Tell the ambulance crew exactly what was taken: it decides the treatment, and in most countries they will not pass that on to the police.

If you want to stop or cut down

Effective treatment can start in most countries without a special referral, and you can also talk to a doctor confidentially. The simplest first step: one call or one appointment.

Counselling, rehab and therapy

The treatment that works is usually talking-based: counselling, therapy or a rehabilitation programme, with medical assistance for withdrawal and detox where it is needed. In most countries you can ask for it yourself, without a referral.

If you are using because of pain, sleep, anxiety or depression, say so in the first conversation: that decides which treatment you are offered. Being honest about how much you take is what gets you useful help. Relapse is part of how this goes for many people: it is a reason to go back, not a reason to give up.

If you are thinking about ending your life

Some of the drugs people search for here are searched for as a way to commit suicide. If that is your situation, a crisis line can help: they answer in complete confidence, and the people who answer will listen.
