This really throws in a wrench in the "normies are too dumb to use linux" argument because once you reduce peoples' needs down to their desktop environment, there's no way new users can't handle it. I once gave me mom a laptop running Solus Linux, back when it was newer. I was told it was a very newbie-friendly distribution and my mom's Chromebook had broken, so I tried to set it up kind of like a chromebook.
