If the page in question had any kind of expensive scripting it might mitigate some load but in reality a clunky lua script likely isn't going to safe the server if there is a sizeable amount of zombies attacking. My suggestion was mostly in regards to pesky crawlers, vulnerability scanners and all that no good noise that keeps hitting every http server out there.
