While the industry has already declared new codecs to be the standard, the scene is sticking to yesterday's stuff. Just as it took almost ages to establish the switch from Xvid to AVC. Today, AVC is still the preferred codec. Perhaps it should be kept similar to the German public broadcasting system. Everyone who has a permanent residence has to pay fees, but the fee payers are free to buy the necessary equipment to be able to use the program.
