Instead of giving up (or buying a new screen), I decided to use superglue to fix it, for if I pressed down on the screen in a certain area long enough, it would restore digitiser functionality. At this point, I was running on a 5+ year old phone with major cracks and a half working screen. It's not even half broken yet.
Anyway, after all this, what finally did my phone in was dunking it in a basketball hoop(several times).
