RP: if humans lost their individual notion of 'self' naturally i could accept that as maybe something beneficial in ways, but to me that would be an advanced stage of awareness that manifested collectively as a maturation of a species, but the loss of self that occurs through the pathological addiction to escapism and other methods like substance abuses, it is the loss of self that happens through lobotomy. on a mass scale, which is de-evolution, degeneration. yeah we love our toys but...
