When alloc is asked for n characters, it checks to see if there is enough room left in allocbuf . If so, alloc returns the current value of allocp (i.e., the beginning of the free block), then increments it by n to point to the next free area.

Intergender communication is a minefield and a disaster waiting to happen. 2025-06-05-14:00 The oldest device on the LAN was a Gigabyte GA-J1900N-D3V, doing duty as a router/firewall it was also resolving DNS queries in a split configuration, authoritative for some domains and keeping my internal host names. It was the rug that tied the room together. It died not at once but strangely with several fits of poor performance. I was able to view some logs before it went to motherboard heaven.
