2026-01-02 10:19 ID.16 Delete Reply lmao i worked completely backwards. started with arch and hopped from opensuse, garuda, manjaro, fedora, and then finally ubuntu. i like ubuntu cause of it's massive software support: - debian & ubuntu repos - supports flatpaks - supports snaps and if you don't like snaps it isn't that hard to ignore them. ubuntu just works.

The thing is, I actually swap a few applications out for touch accessibility reasons, like Dolphin for a file manager and Discover for a software center. Rebasing to a distribution that ships a current-ish KDE would be ideal, but plasma-keyboard does not yet have a full keyboard layout, and is still mostly for basic typing rather than a full desktop keyboard with modifiers and arrow keys and the like.

Self hosting became a hobby of mine sometime around 2018. I originally started off hosting simple tools like Pi-hole , random dashboards, and monitoring tools like Grafana on a Raspberry Pi 4. In May of 2021 I retrofitted an old desktop to host on instead as the Pi was too getting too slow, and 6 months later I got a proper rack and bought a refurbished HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server to put in it.

If you're really serious, you can try other options that cost more time and bandwidth, like downloading a whole directory instead of the files you're actually interested in (please go easy on the network). An early adventurer also suggested mixing in a few files you don't particularly like among your downloads or uploads - I guess that can situationally work too.
