As for why I don't include this option in my connection scroll, the reason is that my server's set up not to accept any authentication mechanism, and your client will notice this and not offer public keys at all (run it with -v and see for yourself: you may see 'Will attempt key', but you won't see 'Offering public key'). Incidentally, I don't think this applies to FileZilla, which requires exactly one key or other authentication method per site.

Mutexes are like gas station bathroom keys; only zero or one customer (thread) may hold a key at any time. The customer must also return said key before any other customer can access the bathroom again. This is achieved by calling pthread_mutex_lock , or, in our analogy, waiting for the key if necessary before taking it for yourself, and then calling pthread_mutex_unlock to return the key to the clerk.
