Why is Tor Helper present for I2P operation? Tor is only used to check for updates on developer's server, for some backup DHT operation (I have no idea if it's even used, and if there are Tor peers for that, maybe it's just an initial reseed feature?)

I am much more familiar with i2p as a whole, and tor glows a little bit in my opinion, but if enough people want it and there is a way for me to mirror all of my infrastructure from i2p to tor, it might be advantageous. Remember, in addition to just guns.i2p, I would also need to mirror my opentorrent instance, personal website, and possibly my xmpp instance, which at this point are specifically tuned for i2p.

It's by no means an easy problem to solve. But I think a search engine designed just for I2P is doable for someone of my skill. At a bare minimum a dedicated I2P search engine should: Not use Javascript. Use the host name for sites when possible.
