Instead of visiting a forum hosted by some guy in his mom’s basement about a niche topic, you now visit Reddit no matter what kind of forum topic you are looking for. If you want to talk to someone you’d use WhatsApp instead of an XMPP server (which funnily enough WhatsApp is based off of). No matter where you look you start to see people using centralized solutions instead of decentralized ones like we used to.
