That shouldn't be the case on my end of the wire. I could have it the way I want by spending many thousands or suck it up and remain a second class denizen, a mere consumer, a pleb, like all the other non-billionaires. Now not having that device do DHCP but hardcoding settings in the servers seems to fix.

On mobiles and laptops with no dedicated hardware support playback is going to suck battery life i'd think. On encoding side of things, nvidia released their first gpu with hardware encoder last year, i don't have a gpu that has this yet.
