I see a lot of Switch-to-Linux (no relation) videos saying GNOME is the best option for new users, but I find they're more comfortable using Linux Mint specifically for its desktop environment, Cinnamon. This really throws in a wrench in the "normies are too dumb to use linux" argument because once you reduce peoples' needs down to their desktop environment, there's no way new users can't handle it.
