Blocking Access Ever since the inception of a Hidden Service endpoint for this site, I've blocked known Tor2Web instances (for the reasons above, as well as to avoid incurring a duplicate content penalty in Google's indexes ). Unfortunately, not every Tor2Web operator is onboard with disclosing that it's a Tor2Web instance , and so not every instance adds the X-Tor2Web header.

Futhermore it wouldn't even aleviate the connection problems either, or I did not understand your proposal. I think an inbound gateway for other gateways, would be hard to coordiante (-> extra overhead) and would have zillions of connections then. Why not simply try to get expl tunnels e2e-encrypted?

Reading articles and posting on forums is generally fine. One of the problems with Tor gateways is that you can switch the non-working circuit to a broken exit node locally, but it's not possible with the gateway. You could even keep it simple and just do it round-robin i don't usually recommend lowering hops but it was suggested by dr|z3d for that and could apply here, if it's in a safe place reducing outgoing tunnel hops to 2 could give a pretty good boost. since outgoing tunnels aren't stored in netdb (only the inbound gateways are) it's harder to track outgoing tunnels that incoming ones but up to your threat model.
